W!se Announces Winners of NYC High School Financial Literacy Video Contest

New York, NY – May 9, 2024

Working in Support of Education (W!se) is thrilled to announce the winners of its inaugural Social Media Video Contest aimed at promoting financial literacy among high school students in New York City,  sponsored by Bread Financial™. After weeks of anticipation, the winners have been selected from a pool of talented participants, showcasing their creativity and understanding of essential financial principles.

Taking home first place are Quentin Stallworth, a student from the High School of Art and Design, and his teacher, Michael Bridenstine. Securing the second-place slot are Lucille Smith, also from the High School of Art and Design, alongside her teacher, Hanan Harchol.  Arisa Monnsammy from Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical Education High School, and her teacher, Sandra Cruz, claimed third place.

“We are immensely proud of all the students who participated in our Financial Literacy Video Contest,” said David Anderson, President and CEO, W!se. “Their dedication to promoting financial education among their peers is commendable, and we believe their videos will serve as valuable resources in empowering young people to make informed financial decisions. We are grateful to Bread Financial for making this contest possible and for judging the final round.”

The contest, which ran from February 5 to March 25, encouraged students to create videos on various financial literacy topics, such as resisting spending temptation, healthy financial habits, and important financial principles. Entries were judged based on creativity, clarity of message, and adherence to contest guidelines.

“At Bread Financial, we recognize that we are uniquely qualified to promote financial wellness and help our customers, associates and communities build financial confidence,” said Dana Beckman, vice president and chief sustainability officer, Bread Financial. “We are proud to support W!se as they launched this competition, encouraging students to make financial education fun and help their peers to understand the importance of learning about this topic.”
