New York, NY – Working in Support of Education (W!se) is pleased to announce it has received a new generous grant from the T. Rowe Price Foundation to support our W!se Institute and Financial Literacy Certification programs in New York City. T. Rowe Price volunteers, through the W!se Institute, will also offer workshops for high school students in York City to help them explore STEM careers as well as build workplace skills.

Created in 1998, the W!se Institute, through eight-week seminars, workshops and job shadow opportunities, introduces New York City public school students from across the boroughs to career pathways and builds their soft skills. A unique feature of the W!se Institute is the opportunity for students to learn directly from volunteer professionals and experts, like T. Rowe Price computer engineers and data analysts. The Institute’s seminars and workshops range from economics and finance to human resources and STEM and help talented New York City youth, especially from underserved neighborhoods, to be competitive candidates for college and future jobs.

“The T. Rowe Price Foundation is committed to enhancing the communities where we work. Our goal is to be actively engaged with local partners to drive tangible results with an emphasis on arts and culture, human services, and education. We see education in particular as a critical pathway to opportunity and future success. We are proud to partner with W!se on this important endeavor to benefit students of New York City Public High Schools,” said John Brothers, President of the T. Rowe Price Foundation

The grant will also support our Financial Literacy Certification Program for New York City schools in 2023-2024, ensuring that students gain the vital skills that lead to financial well-being, an important objective shared by New York City Mayor, Eric Adams. The Financial Literacy Certification program, now in 49 states, supports personal finance instruction in high schools. Participating schools teach personal finance and administer W!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Test. Students passing the Test become Certified Financially Literate™ (CFL), a nationally recognized credential. Through the program, more than one million students have graduated high school financially literate.

“We are very grateful for the T. Rowe Price Foundation’s renewed support. investment allows New York City public schools students to gain a range of skills that are vital to their future college, career, and financial success,” said David Anderson, President & CEO of W!se.
