Working in Support of Education (W!se), a national educational nonprofit, has announced the five winners of the 2023 Financial Literacy Ambassador Award.
W!se created the Award with generous sponsorship from FLO mentors, a group of W!se volunteers who are passionate about helping young people improve their personal finance knowledge. High school students who passed the Wise Financial Literacy Certification Test with a score of 95% or better are eligible to apply. Applications are reviewed and scored over three rounds by a distinguished panel of judges. The five winners each earn a $1,000 monetary award.
The winners of this year’s Financial Literacy Ambassador Award for their exemplary applications and outstanding commitment to financial literacy are:
- Muhsin Tcheifa, Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics, NY
- Priscila Garcia, Academy for Language and Technology, NY
- Joshua Smith, Alexandria City High School, VA
- Sophia Markowitz, Galileo High School, VA
- Andrew Rebello, Staples High School, CT
“The Financial Literacy Ambassador Award provides a wonderful opportunity to recognize and honor an outstanding group of students who truly understand the importance of financial education,” said David Anderson, President and CEO, W!se. “These students have demonstrated a strong desire and commitment to promote financial literacy in their community, not only during but also after they leave high school.”
About The W!se Financial Literacy Certification Program
The W!se Financial Literacy Certification program, now in 49 states, supports personal finance instruction in high schools. Participating schools teach personal finance and administer W!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Test. Students passing the Test become Certified Financially Literate™ (CFL), a nationally recognized credential. Through the program, more than one million students have graduated from high school financially literate.
